The SA Wine Showcase, run by SAWIA in collaboration with Study Adelaide, was held on Wednesday 25 August at the National Wine Centre.
Now in its 9th year, the event saw 80 Adelaide-based international students tasting wines from 7 SA wineries – Claymore Wines, XO Wine Co, Gatt Wines, Schild Estate, Vineyard Road Cellar Door, Yalumba and St Mary’s Wines and Spirits – and the National Wine Education & Training Centre.
Run like a speed dating event, wineries spoke to each table about their brand, wine, winery, and region before moving around the room to the next table.
Students who attended were from all over the world including Argentina, Chile, Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Peru, Colombia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Spain, Thailand, Brazil, Nepal, Singapore and the Philippines. Feedback about the event from the wineries involved and the students who attended was overwhelmingly positive. All those who participated were excited to be together and to celebrate South Australian wine.
